As reported at Newsforge, a new font has come into the FOSS world - an award-winning anti-aliased font, at that!

To anybody who knows any of the history of fonts on *Nix, this is actually a nice bit of news - as I mentioned in a blog post a while ago, it's the difference between grainy, pixellated fonts:

and smoothed, nice-looking fonts:

So I shall be keeping an eye on the Gentium font. . .
