The world would be a better place if they hanged the lawyers and the bureaucrats.
For my birthday (End of Feb) my brother (who lives in the USA) ordered a hooded sweatshirt for me from a company called "Seventh Letter" - and a very nice sweatshirt is was too, I might add. . .
It was delivered from 7L by Fedex, who knocked on my door & handed it over & went away.
And today, I got an invoice for about half the value of the sweatshirt to be paid in the form of import duties.
Excuse me?! Somebody else orders a sweatshirt, somebody else sends it via Fedex, and a month after receipt, I am liable for costs suddenly??
I think not!
So I make a phonecall to Fedex, and a lady named Penny is informed I have a question about the invoice, and the question is "Why have you sent me this invoice?"
Give her (and Fedex) credit where it's due, as soon as I explained that it was a gift from somebody else, and not an item I had ordered, she immediately put in a request that the invoice be cancelled.
But Geez, what kind of organization hands over a parcel for free and then comes back a month later and demands money for it??
Ah well. So long as I don't hear anything more on the subject (with the exception of a "Your invoice was cancelled" letter) I'll consider it a plus rather than a minus on Fedex's side. Companies make mistakes, it's inevitable: It's how they sort them out that's important.
