[Icon][Icon]Water, water, everywhere. . .

• Post categories: Omni, Exercise, My Life

Yesterday afternoon, I cut jogging short so I'd have time to go to the new pool my scuba club is hiring out.

The new jogging stuff I picked up at the weekend's working out pretty well so far - the jogging top keeps me cool, being a dark-coloured, light-weight polyester concotion that radiates heat & wicks sweat pretty well; and the water bottle with built-in coolpack holds more water & stays cold a lot longer than the old bottle.

Then I assembled my aqualung and headed to the new pool. We'd booked it for 8-9, so we were, to put it mildly, a bit peeved to find that it was fully occupied already.

Despite having written confirmation of our booking and a hole in our bank account where they'd taken our money, they couldn't find any record of our booking. Considering the shambles they'd made of our getting the booking to start with, we weren't actually all that shocked, tho.

In the end, they freed up a swimming lane for us for the 8-9 slot, then let us use the deep end for the 9-10. Hopefully they'll sort something out properly by next week.

But certainly, having the use of a pool four meters (About 13 feet) deep is a big advance on the old one, which was 2.1 meters. It was quite a fun splash-about, although I kept forgetting to clear my ears and they're reminding me of it this morning in no uncertain terms. . .

I also forgot just how dessicating breathing compressed air is: At 4m, you're breathing nearly half again as much air as at the surface, and it's air with pretty much zero humidity.

But it was fun. It was nice to get my stuff wet, and I could still blow bubble rings fairly well :o)
