Ouch!
You might remember all the flak Linus copped when he made it clear that the kernel would not be changed to GPL v3 unless some major changes were made.
A poll of some other important kernel people, and it's nice to see that Linus can retain his BDFL title - he's not exactly forcing the rest of the kernel devs to do it his way. Aside from one vote for "I don't really care", every vote was "I don't like v3" - and most ly at the "It's much worse", not just "I prefer v2 a bit more"
That's pretty damaging. To put it mildly.

No, they just listen to what he say and follow. Allowing most of what GPL v3 tries to forbid is what, in the end, may proove the downfall of Free Software. Besides, the whole issue is moot, as the kernel can't really change licenses now, without 100% agreement of everyone who has contributed code to it, and I'd like to see anyone pull that one off. So it won't change licenses, discussion over, next.
And the problem is, forbidding what the GPL3 does may *also* be the downfall of Free Software, by making it unsuitable for too many applications.
It's true that the kernel can't (easily) change license, tho - that was raised on LKML too. They aren't explaining why they aren't changing the kernel, they're explaining why they're anti-GPL3.
