Jogging round the park this morning, on my second lap, I had to overtake a fellow jogger who goes slower than I do (Most people do, come to think of it). The path was narrow and there were too many other people around to get away with just jogging past as I usually would, so I switched pace to running.
Got past no trouble, but since I was quite comfortable with the new pace, I decided to stick with it for a while - I've been feeling like I need more exercise than three laps round the park, but I don't have time for a fourth, so maybe running will do.
Besides, it's a minor irritant that it always takes me 10 minutes a lap. Every time. I can jog idly along, I can be jogging flat-out, it makes no difference: Ten minutes, every time.
So I spent my second lap running, and it was hard work by the end (which is uphill). But I just about managed it, and at long last, I broke the 10-minute barrier: It only took 9.
So I think I'll start working up to running. For the moment, I'll stick to just the middle lap: The others can be the warm-up and the cool-down. If nothing else, it'll give me more time in the mornings :o)
And it certainly burnt off a few more calories than usual: I really didn't have the energy to want to deal with my spam folder: 376 today. So sod it, I'm changing the settings from "Filter" to "Delete" - If anybody's genuine mail gets wiped, it's their own fault for choosing a daft subject.
So there :P
