There's an interesting article on ONLamp.com describing how a language such as Python could be given the capability to import libraries from the web, and the possibilities inherent in such a system.
Although I'm currently working on learning C, Python still holds a special place in my heart as the first comprehensible programming language I ever came across, and the article is a worthwhile read.
