[Icon][Icon]First Google, and now Microsoft

• Post categories: Omni, Rant

Look, to all you companies who are trying to be so bloody clever: If you're going to deliver your poxy website content in different languages depending on where you think people are connecting to it from, put a bloody link in somewhere prominent so we can correct you when you're wrong!

Just because I connect via a proxy server in Switzerland, it doesn't mean I speak fluent German. I'd appreciate it if websites such as Blogger.com and Microsoft.com at least gave me the option to read them in FUCKING ENGLISH if that's not too much to ask.

It is the language spoken by the people who run the companies in question. It's not an unreasonable request. If I want German, I'll go to ".co.de" and not ".com"

Amen to that, brother.

At least you're getting it Left-to-Right. What I'm seeing is a botched Right-to-Left Hebrew site. Sometimes it sends me to google.co.il. That's when I can simply click "go to Google.com" and get it over with. Other times I have to demand to go to google.co.il, and only then can I go BACK to Google.com and view it in English (yes, Hebrew's my native language, but google.co.il looks like the pits. Worse than the pits, it looks like the pits trying to show that other pits have worst RtL than they).

Oh I guess I can't go to Microsoft then. Oh well.

I remember when I went to the debian page and I had to reload each page to tell me the stuff in english. Because it auto does it in Japanese. I know a bit of Japanese but I ain't perfect.

This week has been learning about what a Systems Analyst is, how to think about systems, and to be very aware of gorillas. Gorillas? There is a problem with simply asking how the company wants you to solve their problem, or even what they think the problem is. It's called situational blindness, and it [...][Link to post]04/03/10 - FIT2001 week 1: beware gorillas!

Genesis 19 is a fun little tale, full of reversals and surprises. It begins with two angels going to visit Lot in Sodom. Lot welcomes them in and offers a good foot washing and feeding session. As is polite and in custom with receiving visitors. Especially angels. Shortly after they arrive, the local men turn [...]

So I'm kind of in an odd space these days.Still sort of smarting from stuff from a month ago and alternating between wanting to let it go and move on and giving myself time to respect how I'm feeling about it and, well, still being hurt. But I'm also doing pretty well in a lot of ways, I'm feeling good physically and enjoying hanging out with friends and so things are good in some ways too.But [Link to post]31/12/69 - Ah Me

This was possibly the most ridiculous show I have seen in a long time and I can get Sky 1 I know ridiculous. It could be summed up in three sentences Do you know what's in your cereal?
