[Link][Icon]An update

If you tried to visit this blog yesterday, you may have had difficulty. This was because it hit the front page of Digg. Again. With the Defrag article - which, having well over 200 comments as wel as the post to contend with, results in quite a load for the poor server I'm hosted on.

I'm seriously considering stopping my site being Dugg again. It's a pain in the proverbials. And it's not like I get ad revenue or anything from having my site shut down for an afternoon...

Anyway. In other news: My life!

I've withdrawn from the PGCE - the course that would have qualified me as a science teacher. There were various reasons, but it all really boiled down to me asking myself "Am I enjoying this enough to want to stick with it?" and the answer was no. So I left.

This, of course, leaves me at a bit of a loose end. I'm not working, and courtesy of having a fair amount in savings, have no urgent need to be. Unlike most people, I don't actually live beyond my means...

So I'm thinking that I might take a break before I think about getting back into employment. Rent and bills would eat away at my savings in a matter of months, but if I stopped paying those, I could go for a very long time. So I'm giving serious thought to going backpacking. I like walking and camping anyway, and there's a lot of places I'd like to visit.

Watch this space!

The first couple of times my articles were submitted to "digg.com" I didn't like it. I e-mailed their admins to add my site to their blacklist. I hope they've done it, but any way I no longer get any article on digg.com (maybe because I don't write stuff that interest that crowd).

Regarding your career, I think you've made the right choice. It's tough, but if you don't like what you're doing on a daily basis, it's going to be a miserable life.

Not sure if it's the type of thing you'd be interested in but there's a pretty good (at least in terms of nature) show that was aired on Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK, available as free torrent downloads) about a guy who spent 1 year travelling around northern Finland, Sweden and Norway.

It's all in Norwegian I'm afraid, though someone might have made English subtitles for it by now.

Even if it's not the kind of thing you'd like to do it might just be motivational. :)

I was wondering....

Good for you! Nothing is worse than a job you will suffer each day to get through.
