Say "Bill Gates" to most people, and they instantly think "Microsoft"
But there's more to him than that. Back in 2000, he set up the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and has donated some $28 billion to charity.
And from time to time, his philanthropic efforts make headlines. My current and likely to remain all-time favourite:
"Malaria is spread by mosquitoes," Gates said while opening a jar onstage at the Technology, Entertainment, Design Conference — a gathering known to attract technology kings, politicians, and Hollywood stars.
"I brought some. Here I'll let them roam around. There is no reason only poor people should be infected."
Guess the crowd should be thankful he wasn't there to talk to them about rabies or serial killers ![]()
