I have so many posts in my head, but I never seem able to find the time to get them through the keyboard and onto the blog.
So this is just a quick update to keep me from getting too far behind on everything.
I've offically moved out of the house in Crawley and am now living by the seaside. Huge improvement in every way. I started jogging semi-regularly again, and feeling a huge benefit from that already. 50-minute jogs along the coast are a good way to work up an appetite for breakfast.
I've started cooking again rather than getting by purely on bread and cereal. I discovered that a close approximation of the "orange rice" I used to eat as a kid in Saudi Arabia can be made using a teaspoon of tomato puree, lots of cloves, and the juice of quarter of a lemon. I also discovered (Tina being allergic to wheat and dairy) that it's incredibly difficult to make white sauce entirely out of Free From stuff. Even so, I managed a fairly passable lasagne last night. Judging by the way she ate two helpings of it, anyway. Can't comment myself, as I don't like cheese, pasta, or tomato.
Most of the stuff I know how to cook, I don't actually eat myself. It's a long story.
I *do* eat the toffee I make, tho. My parents brought my cooking stuff back from France when they visited so I finally got hold of my recipes again. For future reference: 175ml of golden syrup, 8oz demerera sugar, 4oz butter, enough water to dissolve the sugar, heat to 140 centigrade.
And if using dairy-free butter, cool quickly to stop the damn stuff separating out.
There's lots of other stuff to mention, but they'll have to wait for other posts..
