[Icon][Icon]Updates

• Post categories: Omni, FOSS, Technology, My Life

PHP and RSS go so well together...

I already have my blogroll over on the right, which links to the most recent post and quotes the date & title of it for each blog. Which is far more useful than most blogrolls, I think. I might even turn it into a full-on official plugin for my blog software someday.

But that means my blog is full of other people's updates. So I thought I should maybe put a few bits about ME into the sidebar.

A bit of meddling, and a useful blog post later, and my sidebar now has some social-networking updates, namely:

  • My most recent facebook update
  • The most recent music track I listened to
  • The most recent photo I uploaded to Flickr

Pretty cool, huh? :o)

Nice one. You should deffo turn these additions into real plugins.

Here's a weird one for you - I'm seeing the posting date for Creative Hedgehog as 21/08/09 on your feed, but the actual date of posting is 11/08/09. Is this something at your end or the other end?

The posting date for my entry is correct though.

Creative Hedgehog still has today's date as the posting date, btw

And it's not the only one.. so far, I can't figure why it's doing this. I'm working on it!

Yeah, I see that Smaller Than Life also does it. No commonality between them that I can see. Could it be that they use their own RSS feeds (internal) rather then go through Feedburner or other external RSS feeder?
[No, because I have an internal and external RSS generator and my entries are correct]

I can only assume that it's a quirk of the way you are pulling through Magpie I guess.

Right. Alison is sorted. Now it's just STL and that's just being obnoxious..
