So I wanted to have a bigger version of an image popup when you mouseover it.
No problem. Just a bit of CSS magic: Set it to 'hidden' in default state, and 'visible' in the :hover state. No problem.
Of course, left to itself, it might not float above all the other page elements, so you set the z-axis to a high number. And that works fine.
Except in *&^%ing Internet Explorer, where even though it's 50 layers above anything else on the page, it floats underneath them.
And the fix? The way I finally got IE to admit that 50 is higher than 0?
Set the background colour of the popup. And for god only knows what reason, that makes it suddenly work.
Can we all just admit that all old versions of IE are a huge pain (in fairness, IE8 might work fine, I haven't tried it) and everyone using the blasted things needs to be stopped, by force if necessary?!?
*&^%!!!!!

Hmm.. new look for twitter? I hope it gets less "Ick! Change! Put it back!" nonsense than Facebook..
