Having landed uneventfully back in England on Sunday, and slept off the jetlag well enough to function on Monday morning, I went shopping for food - as you do when you've been in another country for three months..
I picked up a couple of bags of crisps (or chips, if you prefer) - a bag of Sainsbury's onion rings, which are basically chemical-dipped stomped-on maize; and some Sour Cream and Chive kettle chips, which I had eaten for too many of in LA.
When I ate the onion rings, they tasted weird - not how I remembered them at all. But they're very chemically so I wasn't too shocked..
Then I tried the kettle chips, and they tasted absolutely nothing like the things I'd eaten from identical packaging in the States. Presumably they think that tastes differ enough across the atlantic that they need to put different products in the same bag (I hate when they do this)
So then I had a slice of toast. Which tasted weird. I checked the expiry date on the butter, and then threw it in the bin.
I figured I should have some tea at this point. Which (surprise!) tasted weird. Apparently, even in a cork-sealed glass jar, tea bags go off if left for a few months.
Coming home is meant to mean that everything is as you expect it to be. Why is everything being weird???

Hmm.. new look for twitter? I hope it gets less "Ick! Change! Put it back!" nonsense than Facebook..
