Yes, I know. IE sucks. I agree.
But as somebody who's had to design web pages that'll WORK for IE, I found these two things useful:
Firstly, the best piece of software I've yet found to emulate multiple old versions of IE, so you can see and work around all the standards-compliance issues: IETester
Secondly, a helpful bit of code that makes PNGs work properly on IE6. Mostly, anyway: IE PNG Fix
Until IE6 finally has the decency to wither and die, these are two tools that can make it slightly less painful to deal with..
