So I've been a member of the local gym for a week now.
Some observations:
- Despite the fact that I have no need of doing CV stuff at the gym, it feels a lot better if I do so. Six miles an hour on a jogging machine set to be on an incline does the trick.
- Going to the steam room at the end is NOT optional. I'd forgotten how much I like steam rooms...
- 3M scotchbrite microfibre cloths are awesome gym towels: They absorb sweat in the gym, act as an exfoliating flannel in the shower, and dry in the spinny-machine-thing almost completely
- I have two routines from the PT. Because of my postural problems, the first one leaves me feeling lousy; the second one doesn't. This is because I can mostly correct my posture when I'm standing up but not when I'm sitting down, and the second one uses free weights rather than the machines.
- I'd forgotten just how fast my body reacts to exercise. I already need to increase the weights that I was struggling with at the start of the week. When I first started out jogging, it took less than a week to go from struggling to get around the block, to easily going on an hour-long run.
And it's certainly improved/reduced my back & shoulder pain, so I guess I'll carry on with it next week..
