The spam:real ratio has been unacceptable lately, and I'm sick of deleting all the "you have a new comment" emails and then coming here to delete the actual comments. So I've install a captcha. It's a fairly simple one but hopefully it'll cut down on my spam problem.

If it gets on your nerves, there's a sidebar link to create an account on this blog - you don't have to enter the captcha if you're logged in. 'tis entirely up to you tho.

As a matter of fact, it's an acronym that stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

I dislike though i've got my own account since 2007...

Wordpress has some pretty nice working and very powerful anti-spam addons without captachs. Maybe there're some for b2e, too?

By the way, i am logged in, but i have to enter the pictuere, so maybe some settings are not working correct.

Quite right, one of the settings wasn't where I thought it was. Fixed now!

As it happens, I still get an occasional spam through, though nowhere near as much, so I'm not stopping at this one measure. I just don't have a vast amount of time to look into it at present.

I use B2Evo as well and have used EdB's Turing Test plugin to do a simple Q&A to filter posts. There are clearly spammers out there that go to the effort and I don't see captcha's being any different in that respect. If a real person is willing to spend 15 seconds, they get a post in.

We'll never be able to stop that portion.
