I've never liked horses on roads. Mostly this is because of how other motorists on the road deal with them - you don't HAVE to crawl past them at walking pace with at least ten feet between you and them, people, just OVERTAKE already!
But in the last few days I've been developing a real sense of loathing for the poxy animals.
Not that I've encountered many. There are stables and horsey things all around us, but the only time I've seen any on the road lately was when they were going the other way.
No. What's been bugging me is something else.
Why is it that there are signs up all over the country informing you that if you don't pick up your chiuaua's miniscule brown calling cards, you'll be fined a hundred quid to deter you from leaving it where somebody might get whiffy trainers as a result; but it's totally acceptable to leave a steaming great pile of horseshit in the middle of the fucking road???
There's a corner on the last few miles of the road to work that's sharp, and has had a pile of crap in the middle of it all week. Literally. And because it's in the MIDDLE, cars aren't breaking it up. The only time tyres hit it is when I come along on my little motorbike.
And sharp corners on a motorbike are tough enough for new riders without adding sliding hazards for good measure.
The world has moved on. Horses are more important as ingredients of glue than they are as a mode of transport. If you really, REALLY have to take them onto public roads, do us all a favour and shovel up the shit you leave behind!
Bastards.
