Anyone else found Google's new "innovation" really, really annoying?
I mean their "instant search" that returns search results as you type.
In other words, whenever you type in a search, you have to fight your way through a multitude of other searches that only looked for part of your search string.
It's already annoying the hell out of me. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? It *guarantees* that for every search you do, you'll do a dozen others for something you weren't looking for in the first place.
Sure, there's times when it could be useful - looking for some hard-to-track-down item, you might like the option of quickly & easily doing multitudes of mildly different searches.
But turning it on by default?
Sorry, Google, I'm sure it took a ton of cash & ingenuity to get this stuff up & running. But the only good thing I have to say about "live search" is that it was very easy to turn the fecking thing off.

I'm in the Perl newsletter again. I should try and write about some other language...
