So, having been out of the sling and back at work for a while, I'm pretty much healed. Right?
Hmph.
I've got pretty near a full range of movement back, and in general wandering about and sitting at a computer, I'm pretty much fine. But there's no strength at all in the joint.
Yesterday, I swept the floor. It's about seven foot square, with a table in the middle. Takes a minute or two.
I was barely able to finish. It was pathetic.
Went swimming in the afternoon. Bearing in mind there was a time when I could do a mile without much effort, it was bit of a downer to be struggling after around a dozen lengths.
This morning, with some trepidation I went jogging. To my surprise, I managed that fine: Although it seems like a shoulder injury should have no bearing on running, you use your whole body when you move: Having a shoulder out of action is a huge strain.
But it was fine, so I went swimming again this evening. Only did a quarter mile but it was still an improvement.
So.. basically, it's better than it was, and most of the time I can forget about it. But it's got quite a way to go yet.
Every now and again I get asked if I'm going to get back on the bike. I maintain that I will, but not for quite some time - I physically haven't got the strength in that arm :(
Mind you, the car's doing 53mpg at the moment...

I'm in the Perl newsletter again. I should try and write about some other language...
