So I had to go to the hospital for my fractured thumb to be checked this morning. The car park was heaving - one of the problems with so many hospitals being closed is that the few remaining hospitals that are open are very very busy.

At one point in my hunt for a space, there were a bunch of cars ahead of me, so I stopped and waited for it to clear. It appeared that some woman was trying to drive the wrong way up a one-way lane and this was causing problems for everybody else. So the car in front of me went into reverse and backed away from her.

I immediately noticed that the speed was higher than I would expect, and hit my steering wheel. Despite the warning note from my horn, though, the driver failed to notice I was there until he'd reversed straight into me.

Yep. Another fecking car accident.

Still, at least this one was at low speeds and I was already AT the hospital, eh?

So now my once-pristine Honda has a crumpled front bumper. And that means yet ANOTHER visit to my mate Craig at the local Honda dealer.

I'm seriously considering building a fort out of pillows back home and working from there in future. Somebody is clearly trying to tell me something.

I am taking a positive stance on this, your third incident this year, so that must mean there will be no more. Onwards and upwards, but I still shake when the phone rings and your name/number appears!!

Ouuuuchh... Almost enough to make you a fatalist, eh? The Car Gods are clearly angry with you for some reason.

A woman and a man are involved in a car accident; it's a bad one. Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.

After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, "So you're a man, that's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but fortunately we are unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days."

Flattered, the man replied, "Oh yes, I agree with you completely!"

"This must be a sign from God!" The woman continued, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune."

Then she hands the bottle to the man, The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman.

The woman takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man.

The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"

The woman replies, "No. I think I'll just wait for the police..."

Sorry to read about your recent misfortune. Hope you are
healing well. Concerning your recent fender bender the
practice of assigning responsibility in accidents in my Canadian province of Saskatchewan ( which is supposed have "no fault" public auto insurance ) is that if you are in reverse you are automatically in the wrong. I've learned that the hard way a few times. I hope it applies in your case.
The real reason for my writing you is to thank you for the
article "Linux is NOT Windows". I do an annual Linux presentation at a local technical school for their "New Media" course oriented to web page, graphics and audio designers. Your article is at the top of my list. I also
introduce them to Open Source/Free Software alternatives
to commercial software. Surprising how many so called "tech savvy" young folks have never heard of Linux or
Free Software.
Take Care, Be Well
