[Icon][Icon]Cannot cope

• Post categories: Omni, Rant, My Life

Without wishing to sound immodest, this blog, having been around for a few years and linked to in numerous places, is relatively high up the ratings in search engines.

This means it's easily found by, and a popular target of, spambots.

I delete all spam comments, which means an even higher rating and yet more ****ing spam.

It's recently escalated to the point where I just can't keep up with it, so I've taken the annoying step of making comments moderated - they won't show until I approve them.

Sorry about that, I know it's somewhat annoying. But until I get around to finishing my own blogging engine, it's the best I can do.

Sounds like a good decision - I hope this is the sort of moderation where it's "approve once, approve always", rather than approving every post regardless of author history.

As for spam, doesn't b2evolution have something similar to Wordpress' Akismet plugin?

Why dont you use a better input form. Set a base time for sending it, eg.

I already have multiple anti-spam measures in place. The problem is that the bots are able to bypass all of them. This is one of the problems with using a well-known blogging engine, I guess.
